The Migration
By dbott | February 5, 2009
I’m finally biting the bullet and migrating all my data from my ReadyNAS NV+ to my ReadyNAS Pro.

ReadyNAS Pro
Back in November of 2007. I purchased the ReadyNAS NV+ and think that it has been the best purchase I ever made. Then, in the summer of 2008 I had the good fortune of getting the new ReadyNAS Pro. Of course, coming to realize the amazing capabilities of the ReadyNAS has led me down a pretty expensive path. Since purchasing the NV+ and realizing the benefits of streaming media, I converted all of my CDs and DVDs to digital format but needed something to stream the content to my old clunker of a TV. Enter the Netgear EVA-8000:

About this time, my dad’s interest in this technology is peaked. Christmas comes and my parents decide that they’d like to contribute towards a new LCD TV. Enter the LG 42″ LCD TV:

Now, it’s time to pass the NV+ to my dad, so that he can pickup the new EVA-9000 and enjoy his new 46″ Sony LCD TV. I’ve decided to update my ReadyNAS Pro to the latest firmware, factory reset it and copy all of my data from the NV+ to the Pro. Then, I’ll prep the NV+ for my dad — update to the latest firmware and perform a factory reset.
